It's Been A Strange Week
And what does a strange week entail? Well, for me, it's really just a rollercoaster.
A whole weekend visiting my homestate, seeing my family, going to an MCR concert, and then sincerely comparing and contrasting the potential logistics it'd take to move from a place I love right now, to moving to a completely different, quicker paced city, that'd likely demand I harden myself in all sorts of ways that I really just wouldn't like...
That's already a big plate. Add on finding a fun new Slow-cial Media app, Roost. (so fun!)
Add on being stressed financially after a big vacation that hardly felt relaxing at all, tbh.
Add on finding out a Youtuber that seemed chill enough - if a bit high-and-mighty - apparently deleted their whole account, because they made an unbelievably stupid criticism against a black woman creator, for daring to have a certain expression on her face that this morally superior nonbinary, white youtuber happened to not like...
That last one's a whole weird drama that's unfurling right now at time of writing, by the way. I'm not too familiar with the initial drama that spawned it all to begin with, but I can definitely say... There's no universe where you as a youtuber can get away with telling someone else about needing to do due diligence, and make the effort to not fuck up, and then immediately turn around, and massively fuck up by commenting on a black woman's video, and her type of facial expression. . . Without actually watching her video fully through! Without understanding why her face was looking a certain way to begin with. Completely contextless. That's actually worse than shooting your foot, it's kinda like you had an RPG aimed at your own feet, and you thought you were about to do a rocket jump with this shit.
Of course that youtuber you thought was fine, enough before all this nonsense started, decided to make an Apology video too. Except not really, because they don't apologize about coming off as insanely racist by telling a black woman that ""you should know better, based on who you are"" because they interpreted her look of confusion as a look of judgement. In fact, they double down so hard, they've gone fully past the bar in hell. They're somewhere unspeakable rn.
And of course that apology video got deleted. Along with the whole channel. Figured that one out when I decide I was going to make sure I wasn't following this total holier-than-thou asshole.
I might be my own brand of holier-than-thou, but at least I listen to what people are saying.
Anyway, work's early tomorrow, and it's 1am. I knocked my knee hard on the bed frame... So I guess I'll have to hope that tomorrow isn't going to be too bad.
