The Hidden Book

Might start making music for shits and giggles

My friend who I keep sharing awful, terrible, bad, no good music suggested we could start making our own evil tracks.

See Here: An Instagram screenshot. I sent my friend a video of someone blindly recreating 365 by Charli XCX. My friend responded saying We need to get studio equipment immediately and just make our own terrible music.

Immediately I looked around for a free music making program that we could install and fuck with. My first find was Helio, but the trouble with Helio - from what I can tell so far - is that you can't really save and export music? Not in a traditional way that I'd anticipate you could save a document or digital artwork, that is. I could very well just be DAW illiterate though.

I didn't realize this until I had figured out how to really navigate with the program, and I had made some very basic samples. Something that took maybe all of 40~ minutes.

This doesn't stop it from being an entertaining program though, and no doubt very helpful for learning quick basics on what to expect when fiddling with other DAW programs! As far as I know, we don't have a lick of real musical education or talent between me and my friend, but the end goal wouldn't be to make good music...

Our end goal would hopefully be making god-awful beats that would make us cry laughing when blasted through car speakers.

More searching and testing must be done...

A screenshot of me sharing helio.fm to my friend. They reply Oh shit. If I can make this work on my laptop we'll be SoundCloud legends. I respond almost an hour later saying Hrmmm, don't think this can be used to save, export, and thus share music... Damn they really said Yea, this is just your sandbox. It stays here.
